‘Rally for a Cause’ Tennis Tourney in Reston
Early morning clouds dispersed and the rain held off Sept. 21 and 22 for Reston’s “Rally for a Cause,” the second annual tennis tournament. Sixty five players, nearly double the number of players from the previous year, gathered at the Lake Newport tennis facility for men’s and women’s 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 singles and doubles draws. They brought their racquets, their wallets and their friends to combine the sport of tennis with charitable giving. The tournament sponsored three causes: USTA Serves/Wounded Warrior Curriculum, HEART (Have Everyone Access Tennis) and Cornerstones, which respectively support rehabilitation through tennis for injured or ill veterans, tennis scholarships for children and interfaith family services.

Reston Strikes Blue Win First Tournament
The Great Falls and Reston U11 girls of the Reston Strikers Blue team played and won their first tournament of the season. They got a new coach (Georgiou Apostolos) this year as well as a couple of new players to round out the team. This tournament was the first time they stepped on the field together as a team. To note—Coach Apostolos also coaches his daughter's U14 Team (they are currently ranked No. 1 in WAGS—Washington Area Girls Soccer). They also won in this same tournament. The tournament was the OBGC Capital Cup Labor Day Tournament, which is one of the top rated Labor Day tournaments in the region.

Thirty years ago, many of Reston’s swimmers, runners and cyclists came together to host the first Reston Triathlon.

RSTA Regular Season Concludes With New Champion and Close Meet
It is said that all good things must come to an end and so it was on Saturday as the final meets of the Reston Swim Team Association (RSTA) regular season took place under a hot, humid day.

16,000 Runners, Walkers 'Ring in Hope'

The races drew in nearly 1,600 runners and walkers to Brambleton Town Center, where members of the Junior ROTC program from Chantilly presented the colors, followed by the playing of the national anthem. The colorful sound of a large bell rang by former Washington Redskins wide receiver Darnerien McCants signaled the start of the 5K and 10K races. The bell was part of a larger display of the “Bells of the Fallen,” which honor American service men and women who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation New Dawn.
Ballpark Bus Ups Reston 'Nattitude'
Reston Town Center showed some serious "Natitude" on Saturday, May 11 when the Ballpark Bus made its debut, shuttling over 40 baseball fans to Nationals Park from Clyde's of Reston.

Amy’s Amigos host annual Reston Youth Triathlon
Swimmers were able to hit the water at the Ridge Heights Pool Sunday, May 12, a few weeks before the scheduled Memorial Day pool opening, but there was a catch: they had to cycle and run as well. The annual Reston Youth Triathlon took triathletes age 6 to 15 through the pool and on the streets surrounding South Lakes High School and Langston Hughes Middle School. Participants ages 6 to 8 swam 50 meters, biked 1.03 miles and ran a third-mile, ages 9 to 11 swam 100 meters, biked three miles and ran 1.11 miles and ages 12 to 15 swam 150 meters, biked five miles and ran 1.51 miles.
Reston Little Leaguers Kick Off New Season

Although there was no official headcount, judging by the size of the crowds it’s just possible that all 692 registered players, and their moms, dads, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents all turned out for the 20th Annual Reston Little League (RLL) Opening Day Parade through Reston Town Center.
